Tell me more about camp
- Campers range in age from 3 to 13. Our three and four year old campers attend half day sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. Our campers 5 to 13 years of age attend full-day sessions from 8:30a.m. to 2:30p.m.
- Parents may request that their camper attend for one, two, or three weeks of camp. However, in order to provide our program for as many children as possible, we may not be able to schedule a child for all three weeks. Selection of campers to participate will be made by PTN's camp coordinators. Current and past PTN clients are given first priority. Parents will be notified of their child's acceptance to the program no later than the end of May.
- There is a steady rotation of fun and creative activities including arts and crafts, sports, dance, games, water play, special events (at least one per week), social interaction, and music.
- Children are assigned to a camp group with names such as Golden Guppies or Red Robins, with children close to their age. Camp Escapades has generally had 10-13 groups, all of which include children with special needs, as well as typically developing siblings and friends. Many families have appreciated the opportunity to send their children who have speical needs to Camp Escapades alongside the child's siblings so they can all participate in activities and enjoy a positive camp experience together.
- Each group is led by a trained therapist or teacher, as well as additional professionals and counselors. Camp Escapades also includes many youth volunteers.
