Buddy Club: ages 6 - 12

We are currently enrolling for all Social Skills and Community Integration groups which will start the first week of September. All groups run from 4pm - 6pm on the group's designated day. Please call or email for more information and to reserve your spot.

Buddy Club Level 2 is a social skills and community integration program for children between the ages of 6-12 who have previously completed our general Buddy Club program or who are ready for the group as determined by an evaluation (for more information about Social Skills evaluations, please use the contact information provided below). Buddy Club Level 2 will meet once per week at our Clubhouse, or at various locations in the community such as parks, libraries, bowling alleys, and more. The children participate in groups of 3 to 6 that are given personalized attention by a team of pediatric occupational therapists, physical therapists, or speech and language therapists trained in social skills. Our therapists may also have experience or training in Social Thinking (cognitive behavioral therapy), DIR/ Floortime, Sensory Integration, and play therapy. The children participate in 2 hours of fun-filled activities which focus on specific social skills that will relate to the needs of the group. The therapist will spend time with families to find out their goals, as well as constantly assess the group dynamics to determine topic areas that need to be addressed.

    Topic areas may include:
  • Cooperative and interactive play
  • Making and keeping a friend
  • Determining friends versus peers
  • Participating in and maintaining conversations
  • Joining conversations
  • Good sportsmanship
  • Self-awareness
  • Emotional Regulation
  • Understanding and expressing emotion
  • Bullying
  • Problem solving
Parent collaboration and education is provided through weekly handouts, weekly 15 minute parent meetings and triannual 2 hour parent meetings, Social Stories and viewing of video clips from Buddy Club sessions.
