Early Head Start - Nuevo programa pagado con fondos federales para bebés, niños, y mujeres embarazadas que viven en el código postal 90501. Haga clic aquí para más información.

From the success of the original Head Start program, which began in 1965, the Federal government expanded this successful program to include infants and toddlers. In 1994, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services created Early Head Start (EHS). EHS is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families with infants and toddlers and pregnant women. Their mission is:

  • to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women,
  • to enhance the development of very young children, and
  • to promote healthy family functioning.
  • PTN has been awarded a federal grant to fund a new Early Head Start Program. This program will serve as an innovative model with its inclusion of therapeutic services combined with the Early Head Start's mandated health, nutrition, dental, social services and parent involvement opportunities. Through home and clinic based visits, the program will promote infant-caregiver attachment through every stage from prenatal through age 3. PTN will launch its program and begin enrollment in early March, with plans to be fully operational by July. Eligible families must reside in the 90501 zip code area of east Torrance. For enrollment information please call 310-328-0276, extension 308.

This federally funded two year grant will create numerous new employment opportunities. Click here for employment information.
