WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This introductory course is designed for occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, counselors, educators, administrators and other health care professionals working with children and adolescents who face challenges with inter-acting in social contexts.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- assess and identify a child as having social challenges;
- develop and adapt materials and strategies used to facilitate social skills;
- design a social skills program specific to the needs of clients in home, school and community settings; and
- provide parent and teacher education
UPON COMPLETION PARTICIPANTS WILL:
- experience and learn to facilitate social skills groups
- have an educational packet of materials sufficient to implement a social skills program for the entire school year
- receive a Certificate of Completion for 12 contact hours and 1.2 CEU's through AOTA
SOCIAL SKILLS ARE NECESSARY IN EVERY ASPECT IN LIFE FROM FAMILY TO SCHOOL, COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYMENT.
