Course Description:
This seminar will utilize a combination of powerpoint lectures, interactive yoga demonstrations, 2 short yoga classes, hands on adjustments and modifications, and opportunity for questions and group processing.

About the Instructor: Amber Ramseyer, MS, OTR/L, CYT is an occupational therapist who currently works at Pediatric Therapy Network (PTN) in Torrance CA, an internationally renowned pediatric clinic specializing in sensory integration theory and intervention as originated by A. Jean Ayres, PhD,OTR, FAOTA. Amber has advanced training and certification in sensory integration and administration of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests as well as advanced certification in feeding and swallowing. Amber has completed her 200 hour yoga certification and is certified to teach yoga for children with special needs.

Amber's passion and enthusiasm for yoga and the children she works with along with the support of PTN, has driven her to create a resources for therapists that include, PTN's new yoga kit is packaged in a PTN tote bag and includes the book A Therapist's Guide to Yoga in Pediatrics: A Sensory Based Approach; new Sensoryoga Cards; and a yoga mat with color-coded sensory zones. These resources were created so that therapists can feel confident using yoga in their intervention sessions.

Amber was born in the midwest and currently resides in Manhattan Beach, CA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University and her Master of Science degree from Western Michigan University. Amber loves being active, hiking, paddleboarding, hanging out with friends and spending time with her dog, Tait.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the relationship of the sensory systems and yoga
  • Understand proper positioning and alignment to safely use yoga as a modality
  • Understand adaptations and modifications to allow every child to access poses
  • Learn how to use Sensoryoga cards and mat in your intervention plan
